Deadline reports that Sony Pictures Animation outbid Paramount and Warner Bros on an animated project based on Emoji. That's Hollywood for you: LEGO and Minions are a success, so suddenly everybody's got to have a movie based on cute yellow creatures.
According to Deadline, the film will be co-written by Eric Siegel and Anthony Leondis. Leondis (who did the yet unreleased B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations for DreamWorks) pitched the project to studios, and will also direct.
In the meantime, Sony still won't announce the Tintin sequel.
